Today the Forest School group had to build a shelter using either tarpaulin and ropes or put up a tent. This meant splitting into two groups and each group working together to get the task done.
This was quite a challenge for some of the children, as they were so enthusiastic and excited that they had maybe not give the task enough thought, wanting to climb high into the trees with the ropes. The tent group had an expert instruction reader, which helped to keep the group on task. The group just couldn't wait to get in the tent.
As for the tarpaulin shelter builders, they went all out to make a door, put a carpet of ferns the floor and really make it homely.
The activities were a good way of getting the children to work together and help each other. Take a look at the pictures and see for yourselves.
