What is Forest School?
Forest School is a unique educational experience using the outdoor environment of the forest as a classroom.
Giving children the freedom, time and space to learn, grow and demonstrate independence.
Forest School involvement can help children’s self-confidence and self-esteem.
Forest School provides opportunities for learning particularly for those who do not do as well in the classroom environment.
Forest School helps children to work alongside others, motivates learning, and develops language, knowledge, skills and physical development.
The children’s safety and well being are of utmost importance and all activities will be planned to suit their individual needs and abilities.
We are extremely fortunate to have our own woodland at the rear of the school which we have developed over the last few years into a valuable teaching resource.
Mrs Rees is our Forest School Leader and with the support of the teaching and support staff, we will give your children the opportunity to be involved in Forest School, having fun and learning about the world around them.
The sessions will be run during all weathers and therefore it is important that the children wear waterproof clothing and wellies. The only weather that would cause a session to be cancelled would be strong winds, as being in the woodland would be too dangerous then.
If you have any questions about Forest School or would like any further information please see Mrs Rees in the Nursery, who will be happy to help.
