The dinosaurs obviously knew it was going to be a nice day today, as when we got to Nursery, they had all disappeared. There was no need for waterproofs or wellies today, which meant we could get to the woods earlier and make the most of the sunshine.
The children were shown brambles and stingy nettles to remind them to be careful when hunting for the dinosaurs. The older children remembering the names of the “itchy” plants. The older children also remembering about not putting their hands in their mouths, “cos you will be sick” and “have a bad tummy”.
The children were very enthusiastic about looking for the dinosaurs. Two of the dinosaurs really did get lost, as we couldn’t find them all morning. We did eventually find then in the afternoon.
After snack the children time to play. The children were also given activity books, for then to use the books, draw and write in their books, while sitting on the benches.
Some of the morning children gathered in the “fox hole”, this time pretending it was a bird’s nest. They were heard cheeping and flapping their wings. It was really lovely to see them making their own activities and remembering what they have learnt about springtime.
We had such a lovely day, everyone enjoying the sunshine and being able to enjoy the woodland. It is so rewarding to watch the children using the woodland area and being able to have time to do their own thing and use their imagination.
