Pearl class have been learning about Castles and the Prince's and Princesses who live in them. Our Forest School lesson today involved making swords from sticks, crowns from Ivy and leaves and making a drawbridge from sticks. The class were split into three groups.
The first activity involved collecting a long and a short stick for their swords, tying them together and then having a pretend sword fight. This activity involved working together to help each other hold the sticks and tie the string.
The second activity involved finding the Ivy in the trees and wrapping it around its self to make a circular headband, then the children could collect leaves, sticks and other natural materials the add to the crown.
The final activity was to build a drawbridge, using very long, strong branches collected from the woods. They were then tied together to make a frame and then the drawbridge was attached to the bridge in the woods. The children then took it in turns to pull it up and down. This activity was quite difficult to do but the children had great fun.
Take a look at the photographs and see what we got up to.
