Spring has finally arrived. The children were shown what to look for such as buds and new leaves. The children were able to see that things are beginning to grow. The children knew that the trees were beginning “wake up” from their sleep in the winter. And that each time we visit, we will see more and more changes.
The children were given a picture sheet of things such as catkins, bluebell shoots and spring flowers. The class had great fun looking for the items, coming to find me when they had found something and getting me to come and look. It was a very busy session, running back and for to different areas to look at what they had found. We took plenty of photographs of the things they found. take a look.
As well as having a short time of free play at the beginning of the session, there was an opportunity for the children to have some more free time to explore on their own after they had had their milk. Despite it being a very windy day, the children really enjoyed their time in the woods today. We did have an opportunity to collect spring materials after before returning to school.
